Experts...can u please enlighten me what is the ID of this orchid with purple flowers?

alexandra...the flower is nice but last only 1 day...so each day u get a new flower

I took this picture from my home. I was told it was under the Orchidaceae family. :cry:

Anyway, i replanted the plant & found that the underground pseudobulbs are similar to that of a bulbo...so i'm not too certain that it is a ginger plant. But, the flower has an onion smell though

Thanks rambo for clearing my confusion...

Fireopal: the uncle at Alexandra did not exactly say it was an orchid plant. I assumed it was so when he showed me the plant. Will "complain" to him when i see him the next time :blink:/>

I thought my ginger plant was already dead few months back when it lost all its giant leaves. But today, I was so surprised to see a small stick like shoot emerging from the soil and at it's top, this dainty flower appeared. :happy:
