Hi. My wife would like to try her hands on cactus. The location for the plants has direct sunlight. Alternative location with shade can be provided if the cacti require it. Any suggestion on species and place to purchase. By the way, she prefers colourful ones.

Would like to add that she prefers those that are small, not taller than 6 inches.

Thanks for the info. Will check with my wife whether she likes those grafted ones. Personally, I think they look artifical.

that was what i thought too initially..
haha..
i used to think that those bright red grafted cactus on the top was artifically enhanced thru dying...
until i met noodle at Ikea, he told me that they are natural and not dyed..
there was even a specimen at Ikea that had the grafted top part flowering..
real nice!

won't it be a better idea to bring your wife to a few nurseries, let her look at what's available and pick what she likes?

Brought her to Farmworld recently and she wanted to buy everything. It didn't matter to her if they are not suitable for our climate. Just like buying shoes, must get all the different colours of the same type. :hammer:

Finally purchased 9 cute little cacti. However the weather has not been cooperating. Everytime put them out to sun, it rains. :angry:/>

Hi Chaos,

The cactus can bloom quite easily here. A few times per year especially under full sun.

Good Growing,
Boon Kiat
