Here's a recent bloom from my garden. This spiral ginger needs to grow to at least 7 feet before it is matured enough to throw out a terminal inflorescence of blooms. Found in the Mesoamerican and South American regions, it has been recorded to grow at sealevel up to elevations of 1400m.

There are 2 flowering forms in this species - yellow or white.
