Hi Members,

Here is the step-by-step guide to link your pictures to your messages posted in this forum.

Notes:

Please sign up an online account for hosting pictures. A popular host whose subscription is free of charge is photobucket.com

Here's the URL: http://www.photobucket.com/

Procedure to link pictures:

1. Login your photobucket.com account and you will be led to the main screen as shown below:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/pbmainscreen.jpg

2. Click the BROWSE button to choose picture file which you want to link from your hard disk drive:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/selection.jpg

3. Press SUMBIT to upload, and you may or may not need to give a title, as shown below:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/submission.jpg

4. Once you have successfully uploaded your file, it will show up on the top left hand corner of the screen, as shown below:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/showup.jpg

5. COPY the entire URL given as circled in red:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/url.jpg

6. PASTE that url the onto the text area of your message back in Green Culture Singapore Forum:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/txt.jpg

7. Click SUBMIT to confirm the post:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/kuehlapis/msgsubmit.jpg

8. The picture has been posted!

Just to add on. Various photo hosting sites (Flick, Picassa, Photobucket etc) will update or change their loading feature for the photo time to time. Thus refer back to the photo hosting site on instruction. But here are some basics to remember.

Each photo (jpg, bitmap, tif) file you upload to the photo hosting website will generate URL links sample for browser view. E.g In Photobucket, 4 links under each photo are coded for Email viewing, Direct Web browser, HTML website coding and forum.

If are not sure, try out all the links in your new browser session and you should see the photo. If error or looks wrong, then you have chosen the wrong link.

GCS form (and most) uses img tag to enclose, e.g (without spaces). Where http.....jpg is the "direct" url link to your photo (not the main website and not your entire album).

Photo hosting sites may resize your uploaded photo if it is too big, causing delay and sometime skewed images. Therefore is is best to resize your photo prior upload (IMO max at 1024x768). Saves time and bandwidth too.

Ok, I'll try again later. Trying to post pictures of my new balcony as I had promised and also to get tips from the experts. So far, the plants seems to have adjusted well.

I can't even sign up for an account in Photobucket. Not sure whether there is something wrong with the server or what, keeps telling me that the "last step I tried to perform has failed". So I uploaded on Flickr but the URL doesn't seem to be suitable for this forum.

Any idea? Thanks for trying to help.

If you're going to use the URL of Flickr, you have to right click to choose the image source. But, you have to delete the last few alphabets of that source until you read .jpg or .jpeg, whichever it is you uploaded. I'm not sure why, but Flickr's stuff is always that way.

Alternatively, you might want to try Google's Picassa.

It is? How so?

I love Photobucket to bits, especially their bulk uploader.

Juniper,
That particular canvas is made up of a few photos size placed next to each other and not a single canvas.

There are many software which you can use to create what is called a photomontage or photo collage.
There are many free software on the web that can create it for you.
Photoscape is one of them.
There are also web site that can do that e.g. Picasa, http://www.dundoo.com/, http://photomontager.com/ etc.

Hi,
How do I get the photos to appear on the post instead of just appearing as a URL address like below?

http://i1025.photobu...n/P1010053r.jpg

Am I copying the wrong address? I use the one for direct link.

Sorry, am new to this, and not tech savvy.

LH,
Click on the Insert Image icon (the one that looks like a photo frame) and paste the URL of the photo in it.
I have put in the correct code at the end of your post. Click on EDIT and you will see how the code looks like.

How to make it same size as above photo? I'm using photobucket.

The faster less confusing way to post photos from flickr after the website revamp.

1.) Go to your Flickr photostream and click on the photo you want to upload.
2.) Click on the Actions menu on the top left corner above the photo and select View all sizes
3.) Select the size of the image you want to post by clicking on the Available sizes menu.
4.) Right click on the photo and select properties at the bottom of the menu and click on that.
5.) A new window will open up. Copy the url address that looks something like this http://farm3.static....2d9b_z.jpg?zz=1
6.) Click on the insert image icon as you usually would post your photos and use this copied link to post your photos.

Hope this helps :)/>

Hi, I have read and understood the step by step procedure you have posted but futile. I tried and tried and only the link could be pasted but no picture appeared. Even the GCS page shown on your steps was not the same. Could you please assist? Thanks.
