Got this from Jian Guo market few months ago. It was sold like a cheap pile of vegetable.
I think it is a cym. ensifolium alba

Got couple of then back to try, and surprisingly, they can grow to quite an elegant plant.
The fragrant is very pleasant, light and sweet with a hint of lemon.
4 flower spikes on this fellow.
It is currently potted in a glazed ceramic pot with ceramic rings, clay balls and bark. The pot is not tall enough, and is not doing the plant justice.

Very nice. Can you tell us what material you use to grow it? I might try next time.

Very beautiful yellow flowers! :wub:/>/>

I have only 1 pot of cymbidium and cannot complain coz it has thrown out at least 5 spikes for me in a year. Very frequent bloomer.

Nice. Do you grow it in a shady area?

Nope. On the contrary, I grow them under direct morning sun which I think is essential for flowering.
It was an incidental purchase from an orchid nursery while I was shopping for vandas. I had no idea what I was buying at that time because it had no flower and was totally neglected at a corner. It thrived so well after I repot it and has grown so big till I had to split the plant recently.

Wait for Singapore garden festival in july. Lots of vendors will be selling plants then. You may find more selections and the price should be reasonable.

Good to know it is free admission. Thanks! :)/> Any specific vendor that you recommend?

Honestly, I think it is better to go to the orchid nurseries like Woon Leng directly because they are often cheaper and more variety to choose from. Not easy to get good prices at exhibitions as I believe the vendors need to cover their rentals, transport and labour too.
