Caladium leaf color looked different What causes this difference?

They are both of the same species.

One is grown in pot and taken cared of, with fertilizer added on occasions.

The other is grown in a planter. Never given any fertilizer.

I would guess it is difference in lighting level?

Orchids will produce red pigment as a sunscreen in higher lighting levels. It is possibly true for caladiums too perhaps.

Just now I just dug out one plant to shift and grow something else. Single plant but has a huge potato like root.

Seem to grow well without much care. I also don't water it everyday. Strange the one in pot if I neglect it will go dormant I think.
