C&S
------------

12 Dec 2014:
Lithops from Pioneer Gdn as they are so darn cute! http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif Too bad no ice plants or babytoes in stock at the moment.
Any kind member can help to identify them?
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7488/15818508979_5c844951f9_n.jpg

14 Dec 2014:
Repotted the babes & split them in 2 pots with 90% washed pumice & 10% original peat mix. Let's see how long I can keep them.
1. Original thumpot with leaves still fused (2 Lithops).
2. Those which already shed their baby leaves (4 Lithops).

Very nice okra, sunflowers and lithops. I wish my place have the sunlight needed to grow these. And somehow, I cannot seem to keep lithops alive.

Thanks! Am new to gardening also. Hopefully the Lithops wl survive my itchy fingers haha.
So far so gd, it's been 3 wks with 1 watering session. Some of them have gotten bigger (0.2cm only). Hubby says I'm crazy. Poring over the lithops with a measuring tape http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif

01 Jan 2015 Updates:

Nothing much in bloom recently due to the rainy season.. My poor plants out in the balcony are threatening to bend in half as the winds can be qt strong.

C&S
-----------
My order from Conos Paradise is finally here! Took a while probably due to the festive season. Ordered 8 Dec 14 & rec'd them on 29 Dec 14 (3 wks!). Most had survived the journey except 1. Here's how they look. Kawaii-dez!

29 Dec 2014:
My order was for 20+1 different 1Y old Lithops, a pkt of seeds (mix) & 1 flowering size lithops. They arrived nicely packed in individual paper tissues. Really tiny. I left them indoors for 2 days to climatise to SG weather.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7473/15549927563_c5866300c6_n.jpg

01 Jan 2015:
All of a sudden, many of them decided to split leaves & started peaking out! Strange sight! Mayb they r sick of the box or searching for sunlight. I of them turned soft to the touch. http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
Decided to pot them up immed. Tried to split them into "changing leaves- Die die no water" & "not changing leaves". The colors are really pretty, almost a luminous green.

Sweet Basil flowers so pretty. But decided to top them as I read that the basil taste might b affected if I let the plant seed?

Okra plant fruited agn. 2nd time round it's much bigger. Yeah!

Nowadays, I have been frantically searching for Like button on this forum...

GreenPixie, your plants are amazing! Sorry I am a newbie... Is okra same as lady finger? The leaves look the same! My leaves also appear to have dark green / light green, uneven patches on the leaves. Is that normal?

My tomato plants are kind of surviving well in the hydroponic set-up. The roots are growing into the solution. I switch on airstone/portable pump 3 hours a day so as to prevent root rot. Few of my plants died due to root rot as I fail to reduce the water. :ranting2:/>/>

For my tomato plants on the soil bed, I also added diluted seaweed solution 2 weeks ago! May I ask how often should I add the seaweed solution?

Yah haha, okra is lady's finger. Eh there's a +/- sign at the bottom right hand corner of each post. I don't dare to click though LOL

Edit: I tried pressing and they said I've "already used up all my positive votes for today". I think forum mods have disabled this function.

Oh, that's what it's for. Didn't dare to touch it. Scarly mesg reads :"u hav been perm locked out" http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif Learnt something new tdy, thanks lazearus.

My balcony is a West facing direction. So it's full sun & daily water for the basil plants else the leaves will wilt. Lavender like dry soil, so can water once every few days.

I absolute love to eat okra, esp steamed okra with chilli belacan.
Those lithops are beyond me, can't seem to keep them alive for long.

Yeah, flowering basil will affect the taste quite a bit, and I am not sure topping them after flowering will change the flavour back.

Tomato absolutely loves water, and needs to be fed a lot, so I think hydroponic is perfect for them. Think about hydroponics as a 24/7 buffet for plants, where they can eat and drink 24/7, that's why tomatoes in hydroponics grow big and fat and fast.

The VFTs look fine. Don't worry about them. Tough as nails. As long as there is good light and there's some white base left on the leaf. it will survive. :flowers:/>

Loved to eat okra too http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif Guess I juz have to grow a few more plants to hope for a plentiful harvest.. As my mum said, "1-2 okra enuff for who to eat?" http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif Is there a way to make it fruit more? Mine is not all successful to fruit every time. Alot of the flowers bud then fall off. Is that normal?

Basil- Lucky I have other plants growing else wl be sad when I have no Basil leaves for my pasta haha.

Hydroponics for now cannot happen. Balcony alr full of plants. Start hydro in house I wl get http://www.greenculturesg.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/ranting2.gif.. haha

Lithops still can tahan my babying.. Tot 1 of them gonner but it survived! In the midst of changing leaves now.

Do your basil leaves crinkled up in full sun? Mine did in half a day of very strong sun. Have to water more...

Maybe you could consider repotting the tomato into individual pots.

Yup, they do that too esp if it's a hot hot day.. But giv them a gd shower in the evening wl perk them right up. Last 2 mths didn't have to do that tho cos super wet days..

My tomato plants are in those big pots (not sure diameter tho).. It can house 2 okra plants comfortably. Was thinking to transplant 1 away once they get a bit bigger.. seaweed soln seem to help a bit.. Can see litt bit of improvement (yippie).. :)/>
