Now that you have filled your tummy with the delicious food, lets hope you've left some space for the sweets at the Dessert Station. The spread of desserts weren't extensive but there are bound to be a few surprizes to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Hmmm... I had thought that this Apricot Honey Toffee was a pudding dish which I don't like. I wondered how it tasted like.

I had skipped over the Vanilla and Chocolate Waffles for the chocolates so no comments here. There were nuts, sauces, fruit compotes and of course the maple syrup. Kudos to Oscar's for providing a gluten and sugar free syrup suitable for diabetics.

If the nuts and maple syrup were too common or plain, you can spread some Peach or Cherry Compote on the waffle or ice cream.

Ice Cream Station featured 6 dreamy flavours like the Vanilla Dream, Swiss Chocolate, Strawberry, Pistachio, Raspberry and Maple Walnut. You can have it plain or on a cone or topped with an assortment of fruit jellies, gummy bear, marshmallow or mini chocolate balls. Oh heck, you can even garnish it with some macarons if you deem fit.

Everything about this Chocolate Orange Cake look good except that piece of chocolate decoration on top. It just resembled those plastic protection that shielded a new panel of glass.

Assorted Desserts - Bite-sized desserts like Oreo Chantilly, Orange Financier, Pineapple Panna Cotta, Fruit Smoothies, Lavender Cream Puff and Mini Pumpkin Pie were available for your choosing.

Chocolates and Fruit Jellies - This section showcase 6 types of chocolate pralines and truffles. There were also fruit jellies but you can ignore those as I don't find them yummy.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0093-Oscars.jpg

Lemon Mandarin - This white chocolate housed a Lemon Mandarin infused ganache which Denny and me found it irresistible. It was not too sweet and the fresh citrus fragrant made it all the more delicious.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0094-Oscars.jpg

Smooth Double Cream Milk Ganache - Very smooth creamy milk chocolate as it slowly melted in the mouth. The 2 slabs of chocolate below were for show only, just don't take it away. :D/>

The Honey Truffle hide a white ganache infused with honey for it's centre. Somehow, I can't help thinking these look like mini versions of the underwater helmet.

Earl Grey - A lovely dark exotic chocolate infused with Earl Grey leaves that imparted the flavour of the tea along with the bitter aftertaste of the smooth dark chocolate.

Dark Truffle - A voluptuous dark chocolate that screamed to be popped into the mouth. Good for those who doesn't like his or her chocolate too sweet.

Grand Cru (Single Varietal Cocoa Bean) - Chocolate manufacturers normally blend cocoa beans from more than one source. Like wine grapes and coffee beans, cocoa beans from different parts of the world or even from different plantations in the same region, have different tastes. Blending allows the chocolate maker to create a signature flavour that becomes associated with and defines that brand. Chocolate that is not made from a blend of beans is referred to as varietal or single-origin chocolate.

Fruits filled Chocolate Cones - I had mistakenly thought these were fruit tarts with a chocolate shell. Well, personally I would have enjoyed the classic fruit tart more than this as it offered an extra layer of texture (the crust) to the overall package.

Chocolate Decoration made from chocolate and sugar. Only the flowers look pretty enough though.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0106-Oscars.jpg

Assorted Fruit Jellies and Macarons - Did not try the macarons as they were just too sugar loaded for me. There was no display tag for the squares of jelly so I asked one of the staff and she said they were fruit jellies.

Fruit Jelly - Not sure what these two flavours were as I did not try them all out though I did sampled a tiny piece when Denny took some back on his plate.

This is Oscar's signature cake, the Chocolate Royal Hazelnut Crunch which is also available for purchase at their retail outlet, The Terrace.

Just the name Baked Pure Caraibe Chocolate Tart already conjured up my lust to eat it. :004:

The dainty little Orange and Apricot Gateau with a mellow filling decorated with segments of orange, wedges of apricot, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and chocolate.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0109-Oscars.jpg

Try this moist Lemon Polenta Cake with a pleasantly crumbly and grainy texture made from polenta which is a golden-yellow Italian cornmeal made from dried, ground maize.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0110-Oscars.jpg

Fruit Station has the usual variety of cut fruits and whole fruits like longan, persimmon, plum and green apple. The more exotic ones were placed at the dessert section with the chocolates though.

Assorted Whole Fruits - Here we have the mini mandarin oranges, plum and the oval fruit which I am not familiar with. Is that a loquat?

Here was My plate of desserts which consisted of mainly chocolate desserts. The 6 pralines/truffles were all pretty heavenly, especially the Lemon Mandarin one. Another favourite was the Baked Pure Caraibe Chocolate Tart and it was not too sweet either which was a good sign. As for the two slices of cake, they did not impressed me with their taste.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0113-Oscars.jpg

Here was Denny's Plate of Desserts which was more or less what I had, except that he substituted the cakes with the fruit jellies. Thanks goodness I did not take the jellies as I did not like them, neither did Denny.

Fruits filled Chocolate Cone - I would have preferred it to be a tart but it usually get soggy if left for long unless the inside was coated with a layer of chocolate to separate the crust from the pastry cream and fruits.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0115-Oscars.jpg

These sugar coated Assorted Nuts were a nice treat to snack on after meal.

For my bowl of Ice Cream, I picked the Pistachio, Raspberry and Maple Walnut flavours but all 3 weren't to my liking. I am still looking for that particular maple walnut ice cream flavour that I once eaten at Melt - The World Café.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0117-Oscars.jpg

To end the meal, I had a cup each of Latte and Cappuccino plus a pot of peppermint tea.

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0118-Oscars.jpg

http://forumspp.vr-zone.net/854/medium/0119-Oscars.jpg

Overall the meal were good like the Honey Glazed Gammon Ham, Roasted Prime Rib and of course the sashimi, barring a few hiccups like the too liberal use of salt for the Braised Wagyu Shortrib and the lacklustre Butter Poached Slipper Lobster and Hokkaido Scallop. I enjoyed all the chocolate pralines and truffles including the chocolate themed cake and tart. Would I go back again? Yes, if it's at the special price my makan buddy gotten else it would be too expensive at S$80++.
