Hi,

I'm fall in love with flowers recently and new at gardening. Anyone knows is Hyacinthus orientalis suitable for office environment? I'm thinking to have some in my office. Where can I get it in Singapore? Any ideas? I'm staying at Tg Pagar.

hai Welcome to the forum. Hyacinthus orientalis is a prennial plant which need a cyclical cooling and die back to blooom well. So Basically a BATA (buy and throw away) plant. It is great for the new year for its fragrance and beauty. Cheap now shoud be around $6 per plant. Enjoy.

Is it that fragrant kind of lilies.. its very very very and very hard to germinate from bulbs. I bought both this and paperwhites from bloomingbulbs and during my travel to kunming ( its everywhere in kunming during year end , guess its a CNY flower).

Only 1 bulb out of the 100+ germinated. I tried growing in office, the bulbs got fungal attack and become mouldy. I was using pebbles and water medium thou. I tried growing in soil, the bulbs simply dont germinate.

Its hard to grow plant. So just buy the plant itself, dont waste time trying from bulbs.
