Hi,

just to answer your first question, this hybrid was created along with many others without knowing who they will be named after. When the occasion arises, a hybrid will be selected and named.

cheers,
Ben

Thanks! No wonder
I saw on National Orchid Garden fb. So many celebs - Steve Irwin's daughter, Prince William's wife, Poland PM or ambassador, etc. All have orchids created and named after them. Somemore all in bloom when pictured with these "celebs".

So now they probably have a truckful of hybrids all standby to name after celebs? LOL

Btw, why aren't these newly-created named hybrids available commercially??

Hi,

these hybrids are created by hybridisers or sbg for naming purposes and not for mass-market. Even if they do become available, it may not be the exact clone, but a sibling. These will still not come cheap most of the time.

For example, I am a hybridizer and I sell u a hybrid to be named after yourself for $$$$/$$$$$. The next moment, I am selling it to mass market for $$, who would want to get un-named hybrids in future?? Especially, when these plants loses their exclusivity overnight.

This is just my personal understanding. However, there will still be others who see it differently and hope that their hybrids end up in everybody's hands.

cheers,
Ben

if you have the money, you can name your orchid. if you hate it so much. you can cross it with another orchid and name it "devil mah".
