Grammatophyllum speciosum, or Tiger Orchid, decided to bloom after many many years. This is grown along Hollang road in the middle of a road divider.
For those of you who did not manage to see it in person, here are some pictures.

Enjoy

They should grow this along Orchard Road, at least it will be too big to get stolen. I find the stretch of road too green as in green leaves only. Can also plant hibiscus, with their large brightly coloured flowers should add some sparkle to the shopping belt.

Very nice thanks for the picures.

I understand these plants don't spike from their stems but instead spike from the base of the plant?

Actually, they did grow quite a few of these along Orchard Road. Those didn't bloom, only the one in Holland road and East Coast Car Park D bloomed.

Which part of Orchard Road? I never seem to take notice of them.

Not too long ago some Tiger Orchids were planted on a tree outside of Tangs. But now the tree was removed for road works :glare:/>/>/>

Spotted a small cluster (no blooms) at Changi Beach.
Near the toilets/pub/construction area.
Also spotted 8-10 HUGE Agave at the jetty area.

Also spotted a cluster (no blooms) on a gentle slope opposite Le Meridien Shopping Centre/Concorde Hotel.

There used to be a cluster growing at Woodlands Fuchun RC/neighbourhood-type garden.
Was shocked to find it gone the next time I passed by.
Owner probably got frustrated by lack of blooms.
