As usual I went for their value for money Bara Chirashi Don and topped up S$5 for a soup, salad and salmon sashimi.

Had two of the McDonald's Nasi Lemak Burgers yesterday, not too shabby for a burger. The sweet and mildly spicy chilli sauce coupled with sautéed onion and slices of cucumber on top of a piece of crispy coconut-flavoured juicy chicken thigh patty sandwiched between semolina buns was pretty sedap. Defintely put KFC’s Zinger Burger to shame now that their chicken cannot make it.

Walked by BreakTalk after work and chanced upon the Gula Melaka Pandan Chiffon. Usual price is S$4.50 for one small cake which is way too expensive but two for S$7 sound much more acceptable. The moist fragrant cake is given a slight twist by the additional of bite size Gula Melaka pieces. Imagine the sugar rush when you bites into one of those palm sugar bits, which I actually find a bit sweet for me though mum likes it.

Saw the chef preparing luscious looking bowls of Lobster Noodle on TV so I just had to come down to try it. So, one fine day I found myself at Sumo Big Prawn Noodle stall staring at the pictorial menu. I went with the lobster noodle while the rest opted for the prawn noodle.

Mum and brother had the S$8 Prawn Noodle and Bee Hoon which featured three decent sized, unshelled prawns and clams. The broth is the usual prawn infused soup you get everywhere else.

First impression already had points deducted by me. Hey, I paid S$24.90 for this bowl of Lobster Noodle not to see the lobster drowning in the broth plus I can hardly see the noodle. Now for the taste test, the broth was infused with a rich lobster flavour and sweetness of the seafood. Not that I don’t like it but my taste buds seemed more tuned to the prawn flavoured version. Noodle was firm, more al dente that I would like it to be and the amount was a little on the less side. Lobster had so little meat and to think I paid this much money for it but the clams were plump and succulent which saved the day.

Would I go back? Probably for the S$8 prawn noodle but not the lobster version which I found it not worth the money.

Originating from Hong Kong, Honolulu Cafe opened it first Singapore branch last year at Orchard Centrepoint. Sis bought these flaky Egg Tarts (S$1.70 each) which is said to have 192 layers in its pastry. Though the crispy and flaky shell had a strong buttery fragrance, the egg custard wasn’t creamy enough.
