This sub-forum is kind of quiet, so let me start a What did you eat today? thread.

This is my Christmas Eve's supper - Home Made Pie.

My late Christmas lunch.

Virginia Ham & Focaccia Sandwich - Made it from the ham I ordered yesterday. Toasted in oven with cheese then add the tomato slices afterward. Couldn't find any lettuce for sale in the NTUC near my place, they are sold out.

Then I had this Roast Beef for dinner which my brother gave. Had to toast it in the oven since I left it in the fridge so it came out well done but still quite tender and juicy.

This is our Christmas feast in response to Terence's call to resurrect this section of the forum. :notworthy:/>/>
1. Turkey - from NTUC. Our first attempt. Taste quite good but as with all precooked food, they are a bit tough.
2. Pork knuckle from Cold Storage - Very nice and yummy as it is roasted only today for 3.5 hours
3. Log cake - We have tasted a few and Coffee Tea and Green Leaves is the best. No wonder they close their orders a week before Christmas due to overwhelming demand. Though expensive, it is really worth it. The cake is not soft but solid and coupled with a generous helping of chocolate, it is just yummy.
4. glutinous rice - cooked by my sister.

We have it for lunch and dinner. I think by tomorrow, we would be able to finish everything. :lol:/>/>

Closeup of the Turkey. Pardon the picture as we are so hungry to take a picture of the full turkey. We have our lunch only at 2pm but finished within 15 min. Wow! Cooking takes time but eating within seconds. :hitmyself:/> :hysterical:/>

I am thinking to buy another turkey before the new year as the NTUC in my area sells chilled precooked halal turkey on the shelves during this period. :drool:/>/>

Roast potatoes (Nigella Lawson's suggestion of goosefat and semolina is excellent)
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/bargainhunter_album/DSC00762_zps5a943942.jpg

Savoy cabbage with bacon in creme fraiche sauce (also Nigella Lawson's suggestion - it was good, even for non-eating vege nephew)
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/bargainhunter_album/DSC00760_zpsb510dd7d.jpg

Brussel sprouts, our family favourite, stirfried with button mushrooms and garlic with chicken stock
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/bargainhunter_album/DSC00759_zps62756924.jpg

Christmas must-have, roasted parsnips and carrots in maple syrup and olive oil
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/bargainhunter_album/DSC00758_zps0ad5ff43.jpg

Roast turkey - I just used lots of butter, and inside cavity - rosemary and orange
http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv18/bargainhunter_album/DSC00763_zps0e9ed8fd.jpg

there was sausage meat and sweetcorn too
and finally strawberry trifle, non alcoholic,

Hope everyone had a very good Christmas and happy new year to all!

Swordfish Collar - Chunky swordfish collars coated with flour and deep-fried to golden brown, served with spicy mango vinaigrette. This used to be a very value worth dish at S$15.90 with three pieces of swordfish collars. Now it's S$19.95 for two pieces of swordfish collars but nonetheless, it's still one of my favorite dish at Fish & Co. The spicy mango vinaigrette I will usually asked for two to be served as it lends an additional layer of taste to the deep fried swordfish collars and toned down the greasiness. Don't bother to ask for the baked carrot side dish, it's just too hard and dry for this old man. :D/>

Hong Heng Beef Noodle Soup & Laksa - My favorite beef soup stall. Normal set with rice is $4.50 but I add $1 extra tendons.
