Astrophytum asterias is one of the most beautiful cactus species at all. It is very popular in the collections but always rare. Astrophytum asterias is self sterile and can be crossed without problems with Astrophytum species which flower with red tube like A. coahuilense and A. capricorne.

Sad to say my Lithops had melted off after like 2-3 years with me as it's not able to grow new leaves.

My Astrophytum asterias on the other hand is going to bloom again. Do they bloom that frequently? It also burst at the side like a fat person trying to squeeze into a tight dress and bursting the seam. I do water it weekly but it's also sitting under the sun for a few hours each day. I have since reduce watering to once a fortnight.

Hi,

astro has no problems reblooming frequently. As for the plant being over watered, i think a photo of it will be more helpful. Based on description, that shouldn't happen.

cheers,
Ben

Yeah, only the green skin burst and not the fleshy part. I will take picture this weekend.
