After reding the threads on "taller pot" and "potting medium", I have some questions for the cymbidium gurus!!! Please do help me take a look at my 2 cymbidiums purchased from Insigne during WOC(lovin the plants!! HAHA):

This is how i potted up my cymbidium golden vanguard emperor:

My Grammatocymbidium prakket adventure:

Dear all gurus, please do tell me if the height and size of the pots are ok or not. And my medium is a mixture of charcoal, chopped up fernroot bark, hydroball and lava rock. And i topped the medium with sphagnum moss to retain moisture. Sry insigne, couldn't find the pumice rock in any aquarium shops(but now i know already, so shd i change the potting medium to charcoal and pumice only?)HAHA. Thanks in advance.:)/>

Your mix sound fine and I think lava rock is the same as pumice rock. Actually you do not need to top the medium with moss. I am abit worried if the plants are exposed in heavy rain for too long, and the moisture around the base of the plant will be high for a long time which is not good for cym.

You may stake the plant so that the new root will establish faster.

Your pots seem to be a bit too shallow. I think I gave you the deep pots, didn't I?

The Gram Jumbo will do well in a shallow pot with many holes around the pot.

Thanks insigne for the fast reply!! Nope, sadly didn't get the deep pots from u. Will go and find deeper pots. And will take away the spaghnum moss to prevent rot. Thanks so much for the reply. Will update u with their progress.:)/> Thanks.:)/>

Look so good now, I think Daiso will out of stock soon, I think if you burnt a few holes on the wall of the pot, it will even grow better. Some nursery or those CNY / night market do sell those porcelaine / zi-sha look tall pot with hole on side, those will really good for cym.
