Alpinia purpurata 'Rosie Dawn' Beautiful 2-tone inflor

Believe this is a seed variation of 'Jungle King' or 'Jungle Queen' and the 'Kimi' series of Alpinia purpurata.
Quite tall shoots. I love the 2 toned inflor.

u must have lots of gingers..

i got what i think is a "double red" purpurata. initially i thought it wouldnt do well in my half shade patch cos at WF, the it was placed in a total shade area. however i think it has acclimatised cos i got my 1st flower recently

nice inflo elwingo. show another pic when the inflor is a bit more mature.
Alpinia purpurata can grow in sun or shade provided the roots are shaded and the soil rich and well draining. of course giving it more shade will result in taller shoots (which I like).

need to see the subsequent blooms on bigger shoots. but looks like Jungle King.

think i need to fert it more cos the blooms were much larger when i saw them at WF. still i'm happy with my first mini bloom

I love to grow an alpinia. Can anyone offer some shoots? Or advise where I can buy a plant ? Love the red halial flower. Thanks
