Hi All,

I was thinking of ordering Gerbera seeds from overseas. But I heard these are notoriously difficult to germinate.

Anyone shares an experience that is otherwise? What's your magic for this?

Several years ago, I grew some Gerbera from seeds. The seeds (Yates) came from NZ. They are easy to germinate, just follow the instructions printed on the packet, and use sterilised medium for sowing your seeds. I forgot how long it took for them to germinate but it did not involved any magic at all  . Its easy, really. The problem was (at least it was a problem for me) keeping the growing plant free with mites. Mites loooooove the underside of the leaves.

I grew 3 pots from seeds once. For 3 years they grew and grew but never flowered. Endured mealies and spider mites, but finally got thrown away by me for not flowering! To me the pain ain't worth it. Go buy a nice flowering pot.
