I live on a high rise apartment facing greenery.
On Monday (14Sep) I had a visitor.
So comfortable that she built a nest and laid two eggs.
Pls enjoy the pics.

Superb! There's a saying that if a pair of birds chose your place to lay eggs, you'd have plenty of wealth luck this year especially if the chicks hatch and eventually fly off as adults. So do buy some 4Ds, toto etc and share with us if you strike. This was told to me by my very senior old colleagues in my first work place more than 20 years ago. They said that's the reason why the boss had so many successful deals & was so rich due to frequently got birds raising their youngs in the office's exhaust fan box. Even the boss did not dare to disturb nor chase away the birds!

Wow a turtle dove, thanks for sharing!! And the steel holder is so conveniently placed there. I believe it's comfortable with the support because you can tell by the sparseness of the nest structure. Do update us on its progress hehehe!

So this is spotted dove.
Is this a common bird in Singapore?
They take turns to sit on the nest.
It has been very quiet and have not heard them coo coo cooo yet....

Doves are notorious for making flimsy nests but they do enjoy using horizontal platforms to nest in. Two eggs (and almost always a boy and a girl chick) is the norm.

The species is quite common in Singapore and they can be seen frequently on the ground foraging. They are quite tame and not so flighty. Fledglings can be very easily tamed too.

Hi thanks.. I intend to leave them as they are.. hoping that they will make it a permanent nesting place.
I hope the fledgings will feel comfortable here and continue to breed here as well.
Soon I may have a colony..

Heres some updates on the hatchings..
The eggs hatched on 02 Oct 09.
The chicks grows very very fast.. almost 50% its original daily.
I could not get earlier pic as the parents were very protective.
Today managed to take some pics when the parent went to look for food... early in the morning..
