Nice Caladium. When is the dormant period and how long do they last when they appear?

good question donna.
i don't really know.
seems like they thrive on bright sun and also sufficient water/ humidity.
however, they seem to go dormant whenever they like.

Hi Talos,
You have very nice collection there. I also like caladium. Have been collecting recently.
How do you know when they are dormant? What treatment to give during this period?

even my alocasia hilo & xanthosoma albo-marginataalso (beside) also go dormant.
& it is esp hard for xanthosoma to recover to it original form.
wonder why these araceae plant go dormant after a while.

Hi Talo,

Very nice collection indeed.

Where do u grow them. Bright shade or out in the hot sun ? Believe they love the sun as well rite ?

they start putting out smaller leaves and sometimes stop growing altogether.
no more leaves.
i usually just leave them alone and carry on watering as per normal.
they usually come back when they're ready.

dormancy due to change in weather likely.
they probably need a rest period.

mine are actually growing in the ground in full sunlight for at least half a day.
tried growing them in filtered light/ semi shade and they didn't do so well.
