Something on the Pine bonsai friuts & caterpillar

My cousin send me this email, normally pine tree will produce pinecone, but she find friut there.

"Attached the pictures - the fruit of the pine tree and the caterpillars that eat the pine tree previously.For I do not suppose it will become the pine seed with spike. It will turn slighlty like the colour of the grapes (purple) then ...vapourised the next morning by some unknown. So I cannot describe how it will be like later. This time we covered it with net. Could you please ask if the fruit is edible and what will it become in the later stage? That caterpillar is pretty isn't it? This one I dare to take but the green or the black spiky one scare me to hell. Ha ha"

Abby,
That is the caterpillar of a moth from the Limacodidae family. Will need closeup shot to id it.
The cat has sharp spines so don't touch it.

My cousin still wonder the friuts come out from this pine plant can eat or not?
