I need advice pls. I'm S'porean living in florida & finally managed to get my hands on a rhizome with 2 small shoots of Pink Torch Ginger. What is the best way of planting this? Does it need root hormone? Should I plant it in a pot 1st, use potting mix? If it can go in the ground, does it need composted manure? Thanks.
It doesn't need rooting hormone. You can plant in a pot first. It can probably avoid fertilizers when growing the rhizomes , although I'm not sure if it will affect the plant or not. It can grow in the ground too, although those I tried, 50% didn't grow successfully. When established, manure fertilizers will make it grow very fast, with sufficient sunlight and water. It grows well on a slight slope, or a mound of loosen soil.
