Are we allowed to bring plants in when we travel ?

I am always tempted to buy some potted plants when i travel, but not too sure if custom will stop me ?

Anyone brought in plants before ? Thanks !

When I was on my way to JB last Friday, saw the leaflet saying that one can only bring in max 3 plants without soil or 250g seeds.

I think it depends on both the customs officer, and also the situation.

The last time I returned, I brought in three pots of lavenders (still with soil in the pots), and with a very large bunch of mulberry cuttings, all stuffed into one paper bag. I'd misunderstood someone saying that we're allowed to bring in three potted plants, so I didn't take out the media. I placed the bag through the scanner and no one stopped me. The officer even looked amused that I was bringing "veggies" in or stuff.

So...I'm not quite sure. But otherwise, it's best to follow the AVA instructions and bring in three plants WITHOUT the medium.

Please refer to the following webpage for the laws and regulations regarding the import of plants.
