send out side-shoots (is that the right term?) :lol:/>
now no need to worry about pinching

Sorry, can see alredi.. something wrong with my connection. hee hee..
keep up the good work!!!

P.S. - I am hoping some guy in the states to pass me some seedless pink guavas(defined as having only less than a dozen seeds in each fruit) seeds... If enough.. I will start a new thread on the stuff to give away under market's place... so watch out for it in the next 2 weeks....

Cheers,
Jet

oh dear, what's happening to the plant?
no visible pest
only happened to some leaves in the middle, not the old leaves nor the new ones

I have the same conditions on half of my jishis... but if the new leaves are growing well after shedding the affected ones, it should be fine..

Hi CJ, guavas can grow from cuttings, as someone has posted his successful case some time back. But i myself was never successful with it. It is always worth a try with this cultivar... It will be a waste if noone takes it... Let me know if there are no takers. Will pass them to my local graden community..

Cheers,
Jet

Hi cj - they grow better from marcots, but I think it may be possible. I would like one, if they are still available, as yours seems to be an exceptionally vigorous grower. I got a seedling about the same time as you, and mine's only about 14 inches high right now.

Will call you tmr to arrange a pick up.

TIA.

mm - is yours planted to the ground or container?
karen told me that hers is slow growing too.
however her purple guava is big & tall, mine is 12in tall

i hope i did not over-prune the plant
it was super windy this afternoon
the plant kept toppling over while waiting to be repotted, making a mess
(the plant was tied to the railing all the while, "released" for about 1/2 h while i was preparing the soil )
so i just snip snip, then realised that all the side shoots are on the cuttings :hitmyself:/>

I think guavas from seeds seem to display this particular idiosyncracy. Some are very vigorous, some are laggards. HL had that experience with his purple guavas as well.

Mine's in a pot still, as I was planning to put it into the ground only when it's much taller. Have been progressively potting up though.

Sad to report that my guava seedling from dgxn which had been doing quite well in its small pot, did not take well to being repotted in a larger pot and after a couple of weeks in the new pot has shed all its leaves. I have not completely given up hope that it might revive but things are looking baaad. :(/>

Hi Shireen
How's the tree doing now? I have a belimbing tree in the CG and it was transplanted onto another area for growing.
After a couple of days the tree also shedded all it's leaves away. After a couple of weeks, there were new growths and then there were fruits too. So many your guava tree may still have hope and a chance to regenerate the leaves.

Yes, I am hoping that the same thing may happen but hope is fading fast. To the point that hubby is eyeing the nice large pot for his underpotted gardenia. :(/> How do I tell?
