October 25 – Bulacan Horticulture and Heritage Tour 2008

Bulacan is known for its various small and medium industry, culinary heritage, cultural activities, museums, and is particularly rich in both natural and historic heritage.

This province figures prominently in Philippine history, many of our national heroes and political figures were either born or raised in this province. This northern gateway is home to various industries from Floriculture in Tabang , San Jose Del Monte , Pulilan and from ancient trees to large sprawling farms.

Delightful pasalubongs from melamine free carabao’s pastillas de leche, chicharon , various fresh fruits and native kakanins .

Organized by Philippine Orchid Society - the country’s oldest plant and orchid society, this horticultural, culinary and heritage tour is considered one of its kind and see some of the province most secret and coveted farms that very few had a chance to see and visit.

Horticultural Experience:

Rona’s Garden in Tabang, the place is home to various garden and local farms which cater to the landscaping needs of Metro Manila and adjacent provinces. See and marvel how seedlings of various ornamental plants and trees grow and nurtured in these gardens.

VS Orchids and Ornamental Plants in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan, This farm is known for its different colorful orchid hybrids and ornamental plants. The farm has a modern laboratory in which orchid hybrids are cultured and exported to other countries. The farm also specializes in propagating annuals, perennials and colorful santan hybrids.

Cultural Experience :

Barasoain Church and Museum - marvel at the interesting church architecture and where religious, executive and legislative branches of the revolutionary government of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo made its headquarters. Site of the historic 1898 Malolos Constitution the place had a lot of historical stories to tell, marvel at the century old trees which are the silent witness to these vents and the old museum artifacts which dates back to the Spanish colonial period.

Casa Real Museum and Mint –This building served different purpose and carried different names over the course of different regimes. It originally served as the seat of government of the town. It also became the town’s Casa Tribunal, Ayuntamiento, and Casa Presidencia Municipal. It served as the office of the Treasury and the office of the town’s gobernadorcillo during the Spanish period. When the Americans captured Malolos, Casa Real became the seat of their Military Government. It was turned into a hospital in 1923 and later became an annex of the Bulacan High School in 1941. It housed the Japanese Chamber of Commerce during the Japanese Occupation.Today, one of the permanent exhibits of Casa Real Shrine are relics of the Brave Women of Malolos of whom Rizal wrote a poem to honor their courage of setting up a school against objections from the towns friars.

The original structure was almost destroyed when citizen of Malolos had united to save of what remained from the original structure.

Really this is great information for tour. I like to participate in it. I think in group you can enjoy much rather than alone having a tour or journey.
